Cusco, Peru- Start here

When most people think of Peru, they think of Machu Picchu, but there’s so much more to this beautiful country than I could have ever imagined. I had the opportunity to volunteer at a government-run clinic in Cusco, Peru, and of course I did some off-the-itinerary explorations. If there’s anything important to remember about the way I travel, it’s that I want to see and do as much as possible in the time I’m given at each destination without compromising quality. This blog post doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the Peruvian adventures I experienced, but it’s the perfect starting point if you’re contemplating or preparing for a trip to Peru! In this post, I’ll cover the important things to see/do within the city limits of Cusco, but stay tuned for a post that will walk you back in time to the days when the Incans ruled the breathtaking Sacred Valley.
let’s go!

If Cusco, Peru is not on your radar, it should be! This beautiful city is tucked away in the Andes Mountains, and it’s rich with history. There are so many things to see and do, including some remarkable archaeological sites where you’ll be taken away by the ingenuity of the Incans. Before you start your adventure, there is one SUPER IMPORTANT thing you have to know – get a Boleto Turistico. It seems like it’s a typical tourist city pass, but it’s actually an absolute necessity when visiting Cusco and the Sacred Valley.
What is a Boleto Turistico?
- It’s an all access ticket to 16 archaeological sites in Cusco, Peru and the surrounding areas, and each individual must have one to enter the site. They do not have individual entrance tickets for some of the sites listed below, so a Boleto Turistico is the only option. You have 2 options to chose from…
